Public Safety Partnership Supports Compton in Fight Against Gang Violence
With support from the National Public Safety Partnership (PSP), gang-related crimes in Compton, CA, have dropped dramatically and gang members have taken notice of the increased presence of federal law enforcement resources.

BJA's Problem-Solving Justice Initiative accepting applications for assistance
BJA's Problem-Solving Justice Initiative offers no-cost assistance to courts interested in launching a community court. Community courts are neighborhood-focused court programs that combine the power of the community and the justice system to address local problems. The Center for Court Innovation, as the initiative's national training and technical assistance provider, will offer hands-on planning and implementation support to up to five jurisdictions in 2019. BJA's VALOR Officer Safety And Wellness Program Trains Over 50,000 Officers
The VALOR Program, the flagship program of the VALOR Initiative, provides training and technical assistance at no cost to state, local, and tribal law enforcement agencies upon request. Its core curriculum focuses on four challenges to officer wellness, identified through research: suicide prevention, vehicle-related injuries and deaths, assaults against officers, and job-related stress.

DOJ BJA's Sexual Assault Kit Initiative Helps Bring Serial Killer Samuel Little to Justice
The Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI), an innovative BJA program that is helping law enforcement agencies nationwide test rape kits and close cold case sexual assaults and homicides, is one of the critical investigative tools that led authorities to believe Samuel Little may be the worst serial killer in American history, by enabling police across the country to corroborate at least 34 of Little's confessions.
