Following a quick stop at Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, the Secretary headed north to the Green Bay area where he met with the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin to discuss the opioid crisis.

On December 1 and 2, 2017, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke traveled to Southeastern Louisiana with members of Louisiana's Congressional Delegation to fulfill his promise of observing coastal restoration efforts firsthand. While on the trip, Secretary Zinke also took time to meet with various Department of the Interior employees from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management and the National Park Service.

On October 13, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke traveled to Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. While at the park, Secretary Zinke met with the Superintendent, held a livestreamed town hall meeting with  ​National Park Service employees across the department, and met with other front-line staff to learn more about the Park and its unique challenges.

In early October, just weeks after Hurricane Irma slammed into ​the coast of Florida, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke traveled south to survey and assess the damage at Everglades National Park, Biscayne National Park, and Big Cypress National Preserve.

In late September, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke ​traveled to New Jersey and Pennsylvania to ​meet with the teams at Gateway National Recreation Area (NY/NJ), Independence National Historical Park​ (Philadelphia)​, and Valley Forge National Historic Park​ (PA)​. ​The two-state trip demonstrated a continuation of ​Secretary Zinke​'s commitment to the front lines ​​and allowed him to receive on​-the​-​ground ​briefings of the issues facing each ​Interior Department ​site.
