Mr. Edward Reyelts is the Associate CIO (ACIO), Digital Infrastructure Services Center (DISC), Office of the CIO, USDA as of April 2018.  He is responsible for the Department’s Enterprise Cloud Services, Enterprise Data Centers, Enterprise Application Services, and Enterprise Network Services.  Mr. Reyelts has worked in USDA for over 12 years leading enterprise data center operations and running mission critical cloud services, having previously served as the Deputy ACIO for Data Center Operations at the NITC.  He has also served in the DOD as Deputy Director, and Director of Technology for the Technology Services Organization, DFAS where he delivered finance and accounting, personnel and payroll systems.

Mr. Reyelts grew up on a farm in rural South Dakota where his family alternated running a beef cattle operation and a dairy farm, in addition to operating 1,000 acres of row crops.  He enlisted in the Marine Corps after graduating from high school in Wilmot, SD.  He was selected for the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning and Education Program and graduated from Texas A&M University, College Station, TX, with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.  He was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps, and retired at the rank of Major.  His duty assignments while in the Marine Corps included Commanding Officer, Executive Officer, Operations Officer, and Information Systems Management Officer.   

Mr. Reyelts earned an MBA (with Distinction), after graduating from Campbell University, Buies Creek, NC.  He later earned a Master of Science in Information Technology Management (with Distinction), from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA, where he was awarded the Marine Corps Association Superior Service Award for Outstanding U.S. Marine Graduate.  Mr. Reyelts has completed executive education at American University, where he completed the USDA SES CDP program, and from Harvard University, where he studied at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Mr. Reyelts' personal awards include the USDA Secretary’s Honor Award for Excellence, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (with Gold Star in lieu of 2nd award) and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal.  

He is married to the former Marcie Ann O’Farrell, and has six children and ten grandchildren.
