R43/R44	SBIR Grant (Phase I/Phase II) Two-phase mechanism that supports a small business concern performing innovative research. The first phase (R43) establishes the technical/ scientific merit and feasibility of the project; generally, up to $225,000 for 6 months. Please note: NICHD is able to fund above the hard caps in certain cases. Therefore, if an application is approved, the institute can fund Phase I grants up to $300,000 and Phase II grants up to $2 million. If you have questions, please email nichd_sbir@mail.nih.gov.
