Office of Extramural Policy (OEP)

NICHD's OEP provides overall leadership and guidance to the institute's extramural research program. OEP advises the NICHD Director, Deputy Director, and other leadership on HHS, NIH, and NICHD policies and procedures that affect the institute's extramural activities, as well as on funding decisions, planning new programs and initiatives, personnel, and all other matters pertaining to the institute's extramural research and support.

OEP also develops, implements, and manages integrated policies and procedures affecting all NICHD extramural activities and assures appropriate training, information dissemination, and systems for NICHD extramural staff and the extramural research community.
