President’s Budget Request
Fiscal Year 2019:
VA’s justification materials were updated to reflect the Administration›s revised request following the Congressional cap deal. The 2019 Budget and 2020 Advance Appropriations (AA) requests for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) fulfill the President’s promise to provide America’s Veterans, their families, and survivors the care and benefits they have earned through their service.
In the FY 2019 Budget, President Trump proposes a total of $198.6 billion for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This request, an increase of $12.1 billion over 2018, will ensure the Nation’s Veterans receive high-quality health care and timely access to benefits and services. The 2020 AA request includes $79.1 billion in discretionary funding for Medical Care including collections; and $121.3 billion in mandatory funding for Veterans benefits programs (Compensation and Pensions, Readjustment Benefits, and Veterans Insurance and Indemnities accounts).

Annual Performance Plan and Report (APP&R)
This report presents the Department of Veterans Affairs’ (VA) accomplishments and challenges in providing health care and benefits to Veterans and their eligible dependents in accordance with VA’s mission as provided by President Lincoln: “To care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow and his orphan.” To accomplish this honored mission, we provide timely access to earned health care and benefits for millions of Veterans. This report documents our performance across the full array of VA programs.
