CDBB develops scientific initiatives and supports research and research training relevant to the psychological, neurobiological, language, behavioral, and educational development and health of children. All branch programs focus on the following theme: Development is best described and studied as a variable process in which individual differences in cognitive, social, emotional, language, neurobiological and physical maturation, environment, life experiences, and genetics interact in complex ways. The candidate should have a strong background in child development, developmental neuroscience, and behavioral interventions, as well as in-depth knowledge of learning disabilities and cognitive development.

OPPTB provides a research focus on basic, translational, and clinical research to improve the safety and efficacy of pharmaceuticals and other therapeutics for obstetric and pediatric populations, and coordinates research, clinical trials, and drug development activities for obstetric and pediatric populations. The incumbent would additionally have responsibility for implementing and overseeing the NIH portion of the Best Pharmaceuticals for Children Act of 2002 (BPCA) and its subsequent Reauthorizations. OPPTB seeks a candidate with a strong background in pharmacology and pharmacogenomics, with additional expertise in clinical research, including clinical trials.

PPB supports research to: improve the health of women before, during and after pregnancy; reduce the number of preterm births and other complications; increase infant survival free from disease and disability; and ensure the long-term health of mothers and their children. NICHD seeks an incumbent with deep knowledge of obstetrics, pediatrics, and neonatology—especially in maternal-fetal medicine and related fields—and have strong leadership skills to achieve the PPB goals and objectives. The candidate should have a strong background in pregnancy and perinatology, with additional expertise in clinical research, including large, multicenter clinical trials, as well as excellent communication and leadership skills, and in-depth knowledge of the field.
