The Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement is a results-driven agency charged with three overlapping missions: (1) making sure that the energy workforce on the Outer Continental Shelf experiences the safest possible conditions, (2) protecting the environment by enforcing America’s laws, driving effective prevention innovation and ensuring that companies are prepared to deal with spills, should they occur, & (3) conserving our nation’s energy resources by requiring maximum feasible recovery on federal offshore lease sites and minimizing losses during the production process.
