Continuing Nursing Education Approved Provider Program

Overview

The Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Alabama State Nurses Association , an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.  The Office of Nursing maintains the responsibility for receiving educational activity forms, reviewing them for completeness and assigning offering numbers for educational activities.

Continuing nursing education is defined as systematic professional learning experiences designed to augment the knowledge, skills and attitudes of nurses and therefore enrich the nurses’ contributions to quality health care and their pursuit of professional career goals. A continuing education activity may be described as courses, seminars, workshops, lecture series, distance learning activities such as teleconferences and audio conferences, packaged programs (such as web based, paper/pen, etc.) or learner-directed independent study activities.
