Recycle your used motor oil & motor oil filter:
After draining the oil from your car's crankcase , pour the motor oil into a clean container. Never use containers that held household chemicals such as Bleach. Make sure that the container has a secure lid so it cannot spill. Residents can bring up to 5 gallons of motor oil to be recycled per month, per each household to any of the Refuse Transfer Stations as well as the Kekaha Landfill.
The County of Kauai uses Unitek Solvent Services as a vendor for the disposal of used oil, fuels and used oil filter drums.
IMPORTANT!!!
- A new reusable storage container with a lid, such as a 3 to 5 gallon bucket is recommended.
- If using a container that once held food, beverages, or other products, be sure it is cleaned and clearly labeled "used oil" and kept out of reach of children and pets.
- Never mix used oil with gasoline or solvents.
- Never put used oil in containers previously contained bleach or other chemicals (Used oil mixed with bleach, gasoline, or solvent can become hazardous waste).
