  • New APRN Prescriptive Authority Toolkit
    This toolkit provides a checklist, guidelines and other information to assist Advanced Practice Registered Nurses in Public Health with meeting requirements for exercising prescriptive authority. The toolkit is based on applicable statutes and rules of the Georgia Composite Medical Board, Georgia Board of Nursing and the Georgia Board of Pharmacy.
  • BSN Classroom Toolkit                                                            The purpose of the "Public Health Nurses in the BSN Classroom" toolkit is to introduce Public Health Nursing career opportunities to prospective BSN students before they graduate and to strengthen the alignment between baccalaureate programs in Georgia and public health nurses within the local community.      
  • Telehealth/Telenursing/Telemedicine Guidelines for Public Health Nurses
    The Guidelines for Georgia Public Health Nurses Practicing in Telehealth/Telenursing/Telemedicine were developed by the Georgia Department of Public Health, Office of Nursing by using concepts of evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary collaboration with the overall goal to ensure safety in providing telehealth/telenursing/telemedicine public health services. The guidelines are a resource for public health nurses who are providing or considering providing nursing services through the use of teleheath technologies.                                                
  • A Mentoring Program for Public Health Nurses
    The Georgia Department of Public Health  Office of Nursing has collaborated with the DHR Office of Human Resource Management and Development (OHRMD) in the development of the Mentoring Program for Public Health Nurses as a key component of the recruitment and retention plan for public health nurses (PHNs). It is hoped that mentoring may provide one means by which the current crisis in recruiting and retaining public health nurses may be addressed, thereby ensuring a competent and professional nursing workforce for the citizens of Georgia.                           
  • History of Public Health Nursing in Georgia 1898-2002
    Georgia public health nursing has a strong legacy of responding to the health needs of communities by providing clinical services to individuals and families, participating in community-based initiatives and making a difference in the health of populations. To recognize the first one-hundred years of service and to focus on the work of public health nurses as major partners for health, the Georgia Department of Public Health Office of Nursing convened a committee that developed this rich history. This document represents the first published history of Georgia public health nursing. It is a tribute to the public health nurses in Georgia who have pioneered, engineered and forged the way for the rest of us. We owe them a huge debt for building the public's trust and providing a guide for our current and future practice. This document offers wisdom about the past and inspiration for public health in the 21st century.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/AI) for Public Health Nursing Practice Manual 2017(Rev. 12/05/2018)​ The purpose of the Quality Assurance / Quality Improvement for Public Health Nursing Practice Manual is to provide specific standards, training, and measurement tools for improving the quality of public health nursing practice in Georgia.
