Ovarian Stem Cells From Women With Ovarian Insufficiency
Researchers are collecting ovarian tissue from women with POI to study ovarian stem cells, which have only recently been discovered. Because ovarian stem cells may be able to make new eggs, studying these cells may help women with POI in the future. - POI Clinical Research Program
Doctors at the NIH are conducting a clinical research program whose goal is to develop improved treatments for young women with POI. These studies will help doctors and patients learn more about POI. This research also will clarify the ways POI differs from menopause. -
Ovarian Follicle Function in Patients With Premature Ovarian Failure
No proven therapy to restore ovarian function and fertility is available to patients with POI. This research protocol will look at clinical features of patients to identify who might be suitable for later clinical trials to test therapies to restore ovarian function.
