National Archives and Records Administration has sole responsibility of ownership, storage, and retrieval of Selective Service records for men born before 1960. Consequently, Selective Service can no longer access any of these records.
Due to a lapse in appropriations, Selective Service System (SSS) operations are currently shut down. Please note that any information on this website may not be up to date, any transactions submitted via this website might not be processed until after appropriations are enacted, and the agency will not be able to respond to inquiries until appropriations are enacted.
If you are registering via the SSS website and do not receive confirmation you should go to your local post office and request a Selective Service Form 1 and mail in your registration prior to your 26th birthday.
