RESIDENTS:

Home Depot in Lihue (632-2740) accepts Compact Fluorescent Light (CFLs) bulbs.

Home Depot does not accept commercial bulbs or CFL tubes of any length.

Fluorescent light tubes and Compact Fluorescent Light (CFLs) bulbs are accepted at the County's semi-annual Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event. Go to the Hazardous Waste webpage for the next Household Hazardous Event dates and locations!

If you need to dispose of your fluorescent tubes immediately, they must be wrapped in newspaper and taped to avoid injury to refuse workers. Tubes up to 3 feet in length can be disposed in your trash or at any County Transfer Station. Tubes that exceed 3 feet must be deposited at the Lihue Transfer Station or the Kekaha Landfill by residents only.

Please note that LED and incandescent lights are not recyclable.

BUSINESSES:

Businesses are required to manage your fluorescent light bulbs as universal waste and either hire a hazardous waste company to accept the material, or send the items back to the mainland manufacturer. For a list of haulers, visit the State website at:
