Overview of work being done across all three branches of government to improve the lives of children
The Children's Commission partnered with Purdue University and the Consortium of Family Organizations to bring research on the intersection of addictions and child welfare to Indiana on November 20, 2018. Watch the recording here.

The annual report for the Commission on Improving the Status of Children in Indiana is now available. The report details collaboration among all three branches of government working to improve the lives of Hoosier children, especially the most vulnerable.

The Commission adopted a report and recommendations on the authority of law enforcement to detain a child suspected to be a victim of human trafficking. The report contains five recommendations for training and further study.

The Commission endorses the Zero Suicide Academy, a training program for hospital emergency departments and community mental health centers, focused on changing policies, procedures, and practices to ensure that suicidal patients get the care they need and do not "fall through the cracks." Zero Suicide is an evidence-based approach being adopted statewide in Indiana.
The Indiana State Department of Health released a new mobile application aimed at improving infant and maternal health in Indiana. The free app is called Liv, and promotes early prenatal care and education about pregnancy. It includes interactive calendar and journal features, more than 100 articles, checklists and how-to's based on best medical practices, and links to community resources.
