Health Communication Programs
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) disseminates science-based information on diabetes and other endocrine and metabolic diseases; digestive diseases, nutritional disorders, and obesity; and kidney, urologic, and hematologic diseases. NIDDK health communication programs ensure that this information is imparted to health care providers and the public for the direct benefit of patients and their families.
National Diabetes Education Program
Together with more than 200 partners, improves the treatment and outcomes for people with diabetes, promotes early diagnosis, and prevents or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes.
National Kidney Disease Education Program
Promote evidence-based interventions to improve understanding, detection, and management of kidney disease, including identification of patients at greatest risk for progression to kidney failure.
Weight-control Information Network
Provides the general public, health professionals, and the media with up-todate, science-based information on obesity, weight control, physical activity, and related nutritional issues.
NIDDK Information Clearinghouses
Respond to questions from the public, develop and distribute health information, and work closely with professional and patient organizations and government agencies to coordinate health information resources.
