Chief Finance Office

The Office of Finance is dedicated to ensuring that we service school districts, vendors and other state entities' financial needs and to support education for the benefit of the citizens of South Carolina.

Division of College & Career Readiness

The Division of College and Career Readiness pledges our commitment to the Profile of the SC Graduate and stands ready to support interagency offices, districts, schools, administrators, and teachers in preparing students for the day after graduation.

Division of District Operations & Support

The mission of the Division of Operations and Support is to support the operations of the South Carolina Department of Education, and to provide technical assistance, monitoring, and support to school districts implementing health and nutrition, transportation, facilities, and medicaid claiming activities.

Division of Educator, Community, and Federal Resources

The Division of Educator, Community, and Federal Resources is committed to ensuring that our schools receive the support and guidance necessary to utilize all resources – education professionals, volunteers, leadership development opportunities, government funding, or intellectual capital – in a professional, safe, efficient, and effective manner that will support our students meeting the Profile of the South Carolina Graduate.

Division of Legal Affairs

The Division for Legal Affairs encompasses three offices: General Counsel, the Grants Program, and Procurement. Each office’s mission is to support the profile of the South Carolina graduate through its unique contributions of legal advice, grant-related specialized technical assistance, and efficient and cost effective acquisition of goods and services.

Profile of SC Graduate
State Board of Education

The State Board of Education is established in Article XI § 1 of South Carolina Constitution. The Board consists of 17 members, one appointed from each of the state's 16 judicial circuits by the legislators representing the various circuits, and a 17th member appointed by the governor. Members are appointed for four-year terms.
