National Tobacco Control Program Funding

CDC is the only federal agency that provides funding to help support all 50 states, the District of Columbia, 8 U.S. territories, and 12 tribal organizations for tobacco control efforts. Tobacco prevention and control is one of the “best buys” in public health: states with strong tobacco control programs have demonstrated achievement of a $55:$1 return1 on their investment, mostly in averted health care costs to treat smoking-related illness.
