Network Director

Dr. Michael Adelman began his appointment as the VISN 4 director on January 10, 2016.

Dr. Adelman joined VA as a primary care internist in October 1998 and has held progressive leadership positions throughout VISN 4. Most recently, he served as the director at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. Prior to that appointment, he served consecutively as the chief of staff and director at the Erie VA Medical Center. He has also served as acting chief medical officer of the entire VISN for nearly a year as well as interim director of the Philadelphia VA.

Dr. Adelman holds a bachelor's degree from Allegheny College and attended medical school at the University of Pittsburgh. He is a member of the American Association for Physician Leadership. He has also worked in the private health care sector and served as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service, assigned to the Indian Health Service.
