Sources of Free or Low-Cost Materials

The Food and Nutrition Information Center (FNIC) receives many requests for materials to distribute at health fairs, classes, physicians' offices, wellness programs, and other locations. Since FNIC does not distribute publications in bulk, this Web page is designed to help health professionals and educators locate organizations that provide free or low-cost food and nutrition materials for consumers.

Please examine materials closely for copyright information and secure the necessary permissions for use. When ordering materials, FNIC recommends that you make your request as far in advance as possible to allow for processing and mailing time.

The sources of free or low-cost food and nutrition related materials are divided into four sections*:

  • Nutrition and Health Organizations
A collection of national and local organizations providing information to the public on specific Nutrition and/or Health topics.
  • Food Associations
An assortment of non-profit associations providing materials related to particular types of foods, such as dairy, fish, meat or vegetables.
  • Food Companies
A collection of major national food companies, such as restaurants, grocery stores, and/or private industry, providing information to the public.
  • Food Service and Culinary Organizations
A variety of national food service and culinary organizations providing free or low-cost food and nutrition materials.

Additionally, there is a section to help you locate Non-English language materials. Organizations in this section are listed by language.

*Please note that whenever possible, the links on these pages go directly to the publications section of a Web site where materials can be ordered directly.
