Bridget Bean

Bridget Bean SmilingBridget Bean is currently the Acting Chief Component Human Capital Officer for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).  Ms. Bean serves as the FEMA Deputy Assistant Administrator for Grant Programs. In that capacity, she oversees over $17 billion in grant programs to build, sustain, and improve our national capability to prevent, protect against, respond to, recover from, and mitigate terrorism and other disasters and emergencies. She provides oversight of grant investments across a broad range of projects, including capabilities to counter weapons of mass destruction, improve cybersecurity, and address emerging threats from active shooters and complex, coordinated terrorist attacks.


Ms. Bean was appointed to the Senior Executive Service in 2004.  During her 27 year tenure with the SBA, Ms. Bean held several leadership positions including Deputy Associate Administrator for Field Operations, Deputy Associate Administrator for Administration, and Assistant Inspector General for Management and Policy.  Prior to joining FEMA in October 2015, Ms. Bean was the Chief Human Capital Officer and Deputy Chief Operating Officer at SBA.  In this position, Ms. Bean was responsible for management and oversight of SBA’s Human Resources, Executive Secretariat, Grants Management, Chief Information Officer, and Diversity and Inclusion.  At SBA, Ms. Bean developed innovative strategic human capital results and a customer focused solutions based service model.  She actively fosters internal and external dialogues that contribute to attracting and retaining a goal oriented, high performing workforce.
