How to Apply

Step 1: Review open positions

Summaries of our open jobs are listed on our website:

All open jobs at U.S. DOT's Volpe Center are posted on USAjobs.gov. You can enter “Volpe Center” in the search box to help narrow your results.

Step 2: Create an online resume

Create an account and build your resume on www.usajobs.gov. This is a required step for you to apply for any Volpe job.

You only need to create a resume once, and you can use that resume every time you apply for a job. You may edit your resume at any time.

Step 3: Apply online

Apply online for any Volpe job vacancy through USAjobs.gov.

  • Carefully read and follow the application instructions as described in the “How to Apply” section for each job posting. Note: Application requirements may vary from one job posting to the next.
  • Review your application for accuracy and completeness and click “Submit.”
  • If you modify your application after submitting it, you must save your changes and click the “Submit” button again.
  • You may revise your online application up until 11:59 p.m. Eastern Standard Time of the closing date of the application.

You can check your application status by logging in to your USAjobs account. The most highly qualified candidates will be contacted by one of our human resources specialists within two to four weeks of the closing date of the application.
