Contaminated Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad Update

CDC continues to advise consumers and retailers not to eat, serve, or sell recalled Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad, which has been linked to a multistate outbreak of Salmonella infections. Read the Food Safety Alert Update: https://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/sandiego-07-18/index.html

Updates:

• Since the last update on July 18, 2018, 58 more ill people were added to this outbreak, bringing the total number to 79 people from nine states.
• Eighteen people have been hospitalized. No deaths have been reported.
• Four more states reported ill people: Illinois, Kansas, North Dakota, and Tennessee. The ill person in Tennessee traveled to a state where Hy-Vee grocery stores are located.
• The last reported illness began on July 15, 2018, which was before the Hy-Vee recallExternal on July 17, 2018.
• Do not eat recalled Hy-Vee Spring Pasta Salad. Return it to the store for a refund or throw it away. Even if some of it was eaten and no one got sick, do not eat it.
  • The expiration dates for the recalled pasta salad range from June 22, 2018 to August 3, 2018.
  • The recalled pasta salad was sold in 1-pound (16 oz.) and 3-pound (48 oz.) plastic containers or may have been scooped at the deli counter into clear plastic containers.
  • It was sold in all Hy-Vee grocery stores in Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.
