This office is the enforcement, educational, and informational arm of the Raleigh Fire Department. They perform site inspections, issues permits, enforce fire codes, and coordinate pre-fire planning for buildings and facilities within the city. The division is also responsible for conducting fire investigations to determine origin and cause of all fires, and provides public fire education to the citizens of Raleigh.

The largest division within the Fire Department is the Operations Division. We respond to emergencies including fires, medical emergencies, vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, and technical rescues within the city.

The training division provides continuing education and advancement training for all fire department members including the maintenance of various certifications. It is also responsible for the pre-employment recruitment process, operating the recruit academies, managing the promotional process, and the department's special operations.

Services
The Services Division provides support for the physical infrastructure of the Raleigh Fire Department, including facilities, apparatus, vehicles, equipment, hand tools, personal protective clothing, and uniforms. Responsibilities include:
- Oversee construction of new and remodeled fire stations including purchasing all furnishings and supplies;
- Oversee maintenance and repair of all fire department facilities;
- Ordering and purchasing new apparatus;
- Oversee maintenance, repair, and service testing of all apparatus and equipment;
- Manage all vehicle operating expenses, including fuel, tires, and repair parts;
- Issuing new uniforms and equipment to personnel; and,
- Issuing supplies and equipment to stations and apparatus.
FY17 staffing includes:
One assistant chief, one division chief, one lieutenant (facilities manager), one fire services assistant, one fire services coordinator, one part-time fire supply clerk, one garage supervisor, one inventory specialist, and five mechanics.

Office of the Fire Chief
The Office of the Fire Chief provides administrative, planning, financial, and information technology services to support the daily operation of the Raleigh Fire Department. All of the assistant chiefs are based at this office.
Location: Dillon Building at 310 West Martin Street and Station 1 at 220 West Dawson Street.
Statistics
Yearly statistics contain the nine major categories from National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS). These reports show the number of incidents and the types of incidents that the Raleigh Fire Department was dispatched to.
