Veterans Legacy Film Screening - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) National Cemetery Administration (NCA) and San Francisco State University's Veteran Documentary Corps will showcase the untold stories of Veterans buried in California's Golden Gate and San Francisco National Cemeteries. These short-form films will be screened at the Marines Memorial Theater in downtown San Francisco, Nov., 16 at 7 p.m. (11/09/2017)

Miramar National Cemetery to host its first Community Open House on May 20, 2017 - Miramar National Cemetery is hosting its first open house for Veterans, families and the general public on Saturday, May 20, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Miramar National Cemetery is the newest VA cemetery in the western region and cemetery officials are working with U.S. Congressman Scott Peters (CA-52) and Miramar National Cemetery Support Foundation to increase awareness about the cemetery and the burial options that are available to Veterans and their eligible family members. VA Now Providing Online Daily Burial Schedules For Its National Cemeteries - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced today a new online Daily Burial Schedule (DBS) for all VA national cemeteries, which will allow families and loved ones to retrieve time and location information for those being interred, via its National Cemetery Administration (NCA) website. VA National Cemeteries Now Offering Pre-Need Eligibility Determinations - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) today announced it now provides eligibility determinations for interment in a VA national cemetery prior to the time of need. Through the Pre-Need Determination of Eligibility Program, upon request, individuals can learn if they are eligible for burial or memorialization in a VA national cemetery. (12/08/2016)

World War II in the Pacific Teacher Institute Now Accepting Applications - American forces in the Pacific during World War II faced challenges never before experienced by the U.S. military. From the sheer geographic expanse of the theater of operations to the reliance on naval strength, this piece of the war is critical to understanding how the conflict shaped our history. To bring this into the classroom, applications are being accepted now through September 2, 2016 for the 2016-2017 Understanding Sacrifice: World War II in the Pacific Teacher Institute program. 100th VA Grant-Funded Veterans Cemetery Dedicated - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) announced the opening of the 100th VA grant funded Veterans cemetery. An $8.9 million grant from the VA funded the new Arizona Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Marana, Arizona. The cemetery is the 100th Veterans cemetery funded with a VA grant awarded to a State or Tribal organization. (04/07/2016)

VA Opens Cape Canaveral National Cemetery for First Burials - The Cape Canaveral National Cemetery opened for first interments of casketed or cremated remains of eligible Veterans, spouses or dependents, Wednesday, January 13, 2016. The cemetery hosted a private committal service for the family and friends of 12 deceased Veterans who received military honors on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. (01/13/2016)
