Emergency Response
Federal Motor Vehicle Use During Emergencies
The following information is provided to assist individuals and agencies in using motor vehicles for emergency situations.
- Any GSA Fleet vehicles damaged in an emergency should be reported to GSA's Accident Management Center (AMC)
- In accordance with 41 CFR 102-34.325(a), Federal motor vehicles must be fueled with the minimum grade (octane rating) of fuel recommended by the motor vehicle manufacturer, unless a higher grade of fuel is all that is available locally. This provides for circumstances in declared emergencies where higher grade fuel may be the only grade available.
- If there are any questions or concerns about using motor vehicles to respond to relief missions, please email vehicle.policy@gsa.gov.
