Training & Communications Team
The mission of Training and Communications team is to provide national policy, plans, education, and
products that promote workforce diversity and workplace inclusion.
The Training and Communications Team is instrumental in:
- developing agency policies and strategic plans that ensure commitment to and accountability for maintaining
a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace;
- educating employees and managers on diversity and inclusion matters to foster competency
in maintaining a fair, high-performance, and respectful work environment;
- promoting effective communication with employees and stakeholders on diversity and
inclusion issues to heighten awareness, share best practices, foster dialogue;
- serving as diversity and inclusion advisors/consultants across organizational lines;
and
- supporting the Secretary's Diversity and Inclusion in VA Council (DIVAC) whose charge is to identify the strengths
and weaknesses of policies and practices with regard to diversity and inclusion
and to create a mechanism for VA leaders to make recommendations for improvement
in organizational culture and performance. The DIVAC also provides executive level strategic direction and integration
across organizational lines.
In addition, the Team provides diversity and inclusion information through the production of a video news program (Diversity News),
the publication of a newsletter (Diversity@Work),
and the preparation of other print or electronic materials.
