Health Professions Education Orientation
The Office of Academic Affiliations (OAA) welcomes you to VHA’s academic and educational arena! OAA holds quarterly Health Professions Education Orientation trainings for staff new to education in VHA. The training is targeted at those staff within the Office of Education at individual medical centers, this may include, but is not limited too; Designated Education Officers, Associate Chief of Staff for Education, Education Administrative Officers, and physician Program Directors who work with and oversee residents. During the training you will learn about; goals and mission of OAA, Associated Health, Medical & Dental Education, Nursing. In addition, you will learn the tools to success, such as; how to use the support center, OAA database, and a thorough review of all relevant VHA handbooks, policies, and directives. You will also learn about Educational Activity Reports, Affiliation Agreements, Disbursement Agreements and Affiliation Partnerships. Below is a sample agenda. We are limited in the number of available slots in each training, please ensure you sign-up as soon as possible. We are happy to put you on a wait list for future trainings. Travel funding for orientation is the responsibility of the medical center. Please ensure you have received approval from your supervisor, prior to contacting our staff, to be added to the class. Pending availability, this course would be a great refresher for experienced staff as well.
