Welcome Message


     The VA Center for Faith and Opportunity Initiative (CFOI) is an internal staff office of the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) with the mission of engaging, informing and educating faith-based, nonprofit and community/neighborhood organizations in VA programs to better serve the needs of Veterans, their families, survivors, caregivers and other beneficiaries.

     VA CFOI achieves our mission by developing and cultivating partnerships with organizations which already provide services to veterans, who walk through their doors daily.  The Center of Faith-based and Community Initiative was established on June 1, 2004, by Executive Order 13342 and we are excited to celebrate our ongoing impact in the community!  We need your organzation help to make every year a success by assisting us to reach the 24.4 million Veterans across the country.

Here are VA CFOI Strategic priorties for Faith-based, Nonprofit and Community Organizations (FBCOs):

   •  Provide FBCOs with tools and resources about VA programs and services.

   •  Disseminate to FBCOs with comprehensive community-based Veteran suicide prevention resources.

   •  Connect FBCOs with hoousing and VA services for homeless Veterans.

   •  Connect FBCOs with VA program and services to promote hope, and relience for Veterans experiencing mental health concerns and /or condition,

     We recognize each community has different needs; therefore, we encourage your organization to contact VA CFOI directly to discuss ways we can efficiently and effectively reach the Veterans in your community.  The VA CFOI welcomes the opportunity to conduct workshops, speak at conferences/events and provide VA resources, etc. in order to equip your organzations with information about VA benefits and programs.  It is our goal to reach every Veteran across this nation and we have no doubt VA CFOI can do it with your help!  VACFOI wants to hear about all the good work and stories your organization is doing in the community to support Veterans to be features on our webpage.  Also, please subscribe to our webpage to start receiving VA CFOI news and upcomng events.
