There are many ways to inspire your friends, family, coworkers, and other people in your social circle to prepare for a public health emergency. One of the easiest is to post photos to social media of you and your family preparing for emergencies.

Help us start a conversation about personal preparedness by sharing your own #SafeAndWellSelfie on National Selfie Day, June 21. Participate from home with family—pets included—and/or at work with friends; it’s easy:

1. Walk outside to your designated emergency meeting place (at home) or assembly area (at work).
2. Snap a selfie with family, friends, and coworkers.
3. Post your selfie on Twitter, Facebook, and/or Instagram with the hashtag #SafeAndWellSelfie.

An emergency meeting place is a safe and familiar location where a family can go to reunite in response to an emergency. Because emergencies can vary in size and scope it is a good idea to identify three (3) locations: a neighborhood meeting place (e.g., a neighbor’s house or nearest intersection), a community meeting place (e.g., a library or shopping center) and an out-of-town meeting place (e.g., a family friend’s house).

OPHPR may use photos using the hashtag #SafeAndWellSelfies in future social marketing campaigns and materials.
