Cafeteria & Retail Store

The Veterans Canteen Service is located on the first floor near the main entrance of the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center. The Canteen Service consists of a Cafeteria, Retail Store, Papa’s Best Pizza, Vending Services, and a Barber Shop.

Cafeteria
The Canteen Cafeteria serving line is open for breakfast and lunch. Also available in the Cafeteria is a deli, grill, salad bar, and assorted dessert and snack items.
     Hours:
            Monday-Friday: Midnight to 5:00 p.m.
            Saturday: 7:00 a.m. -  2:30 p.m.
            Sunday: 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Retail Store
The Retail Store has a wide selection of retail merchandise to include health and beauty aids, candy and snacks, men and ladies clothing, gift items, greeting cards, electronic products, and long-distance telephone calling cards.
     Hours:
            Monday-Friday: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
            Saturday: 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
            Sunday: 7:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Papa's Best Pizza
Papa’s Best Pizza is located adjacent to the cafeteria and offers a variety of pizza sold by the slice.
     Hours:
            Monday-Friday: 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
            Saturday: Closed
            Sunday: Closed

Coffee Shop
Our Coffee Shops sell Starbucks coffee and are located on the first floor. One near the main entrance and one near the Spinal Cord Injury entrance. The offer a wide selection of coffees, and sandwiches, salads, and desserts.
     Hours:
            Monday-Friday: 6:30 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
            Saturday: Closed
            Sunday: Closed

Vending Services
The Canteen Main Vending Room, located on the first floor, Room 1A-660 (at the end of the cafeteria), is open 24 hours a day. There are also snack and soda machines located near each Nursing Unit.

Barbershop
Our barbershop is located on the first floor in Room 1A-150, near the Community Living Center entrance. 
     Hours:
            Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
            Saturday: Closed
            Sunday: Closed

ATM
Automated teller machines (ATM) can be found in the Main Lobby and the cafeteria.
