Education Objective

The Northwest Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (NW MIRECC) promotes the implementation of effective treatments for military PTSD and its complex comorbidities, including mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI), substance use disorders, chronic pain, and dementia, by providing continuing education opportunities to clinicians and trainees throughout Alaska, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington (VISN 20).

WHAT WHO
What NW MIRECC does in terms of Education:
    1. Disseminates best practice treatments, current research findings and the latest pertinent knowledge related to PTSD and its complex comorbidities through both web based and face-to-face educational offerings. 
    2. Collects and implements feedback from participant evaluations to ensure quality programing.
    3. Serves as a national resource for expertise in mental health education.

As part of our mission to enhance access to mental health expertise, the NW MIRECC collaborates and consults with other MIRECCs and Centers of Excellence, as well as with other VA, federal, state and community agencies and experts.

To increase the quality and quantity of continuing education opportunities available in VISN 20 and across the nation, especially related to PTSD and its complex comorbidities, so that professionals can provide the best possible care for Veterans.
