Patient Education
Health literacy is a complex issue that effects a patient’s safety, overall health and impacts healthcare spending (National Network of Libraries of Medicine: Health Literacy). This document of Health Literacy resources have been compiled by the VHA librarians and library technicians to assist VHA staff in working more effectively with our Veteran patients. Included are health literacy materials, readability formulas, free resources for pictograms and graphics, and sites that assist in writing low-literacy patient education materials.
The following library resources have patient education materials included in the national subscription. Patient education materials can be printed and distributed to Veterans, caregivers, and their families.
