30th Anniversary of World AIDS Day
December 1 marks the 30th anniversary of the observance of World AIDS Day—a day for people to unite in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV and to commemorate people who have died from AIDS-related complications. The theme for the 2018 observance is “Saving Lives Through Leadership and Partnership.”

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) has awarded nearly $7 Million in federal grant funding to 21 Ohio organizations providing evidence-based home visiting services in 27 counties. These services support women during pregnancy and parents with young children who are at risk for poor birth or developmental outcomes.

With the arrival of flu season, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) is recommending all Ohioans 6 months and older get a flu shot as soon as possible. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is urging vaccination by the end of October.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is reporting that from March 10, 2018 through April 5, 2018, 94 people have gone to emergency departments with serious unexplained bleeding (89 in Illinois including 2 deaths, 2 in Indiana, 1 in Maryland, 1 in Missouri, and 1 in Wisconsin). There may be an additional suspected case in Pennsylvania, according to the National Poison Data System.
