Frequently Requested Records
The E-FOIA Amendments of 1996 mandate that frequently requested materials be included in the FTC FOIA "reading room" because they are likely to be subject to subsequent requests. For this reason, we compiled a list of frequently requested records including explanatory letters and responsive documents. The response letters disclose the number and types of records we released, and explain the exemptions that apply to any redacted or withheld documents. Along with the response letters, we included copies of the information that we sent to the requesters. In most cases, the information includes consumer complaints submitted to the FTC.
The FOIA office receives many requests for consumer complaints about specific companies or topics. The FTC does not necessarily verify these consumer complaints. Before releasing the records, the FOIA office redacts personal information about consumers and requesters from the complaints and response letters to protect privacy. The materials provided are current as of the date indicated for each company.
Hot topics are subjects requested more than three times in a calendar year.
