Bennet Lauds Plans for New VA Clinic in Colorado Springs

Senator Bennet applauded plans released today by the Department of Veterans Affairs to build an expanded community-based outpatient clinic in Colorado Springs, CO. The department estimated that the contract for the new clinic, which was awarded to Colorado Springs VA, LLC, would result in 235 construction jobs. Slated to be completed in 2014, the three-story clinic will be situated at the corner of Fillmore Street and Centennial Boulevard and will provide health care, benefits, and services for more than 20,000 veterans annually.

“In a state with a proud tradition of supporting our veterans, who have so bravely defended our nation, we recognize that they deserve access to quality health care,” Bennet said.  “I am encouraged that the VA is moving this project forward in Colorado Springs, as it will benefit our veterans and also create much-needed jobs.”

Last year, the VA spent $3.4 billion on health care services to Colorado’s veteran population, which is estimated at 420,000.
