Bennet Participates in Ceremony to Honor US Army Reserves Troops Who Have Served in Iraq

Presents Members of Denver-Based 244th Engineer Combat Battalion with Warrior-Citizen Award and Recognitions

Denver, CO - Michael Bennet, U.S. Senator for Colorado, participated in a ceremony today to recognize the service of US Army Reserves members who are either returning or have returned from Iraq. At the event, Bennet made remarks on the need to support America's troops, their families, and military veterans, and ensure they receive the benefits and service they have earned in service to our country.

"Our country's citizen-soldiers serve in a different and special way," said Bennet. "They move from the civilian world to the battlefield and back again, enduring a set of circumstances and sacrifices one must live to truly understand. And as they return home to their families and their daily lives from abroad, it is our obligation to ensure they are provided with the full scope of benefits and care they have earned in service to our nation."

Following his remarks, Bennet took part in a ceremony to present returning troops of the 244th Engineer Combat Battalion - located in Denver, Colorado - with the "Welcome Home Warrior-Citizen Award," an award meant to honor Reserve soldiers who participate in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).
