Lamborn Supports Passage of Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act

Washington, D.C. - Today, after nearly two weeks of delays from Speaker Pelosi and Minority Leader Schumer, the United States House of Representatives passed the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act, providing nearly $500 billion for small businesses, health care providers and hospitals, and expanded testing. 

Congressman Lamborn issued the following statement after voting for the bill: 

“I am pleased to return to Washington and vote for the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act. I am glad that Senator McConnell prevented Speaker Pelosi from inserting her radical wish list. I only wish Speaker Pelosi would have allowed this bill to come to a vote sooner.

“The Paycheck Protection Program has helped small businesses keep their workers on the payroll. It is vital to getting our nation’s economy back on track. This bill will provide crucial funding to aid our small businesses and prevent more Americans from becoming unemployed. It also provides additional funding to our hospitals that are on the frontlines fighting the COVID19 pandemic and it provides funds for expanding testing and research. This replenished funding should help the small businesses who have been stuck in the process of applying for PPP and Economic Injury Disaster loans receive funding swiftly. My office will continue working with our constituents and federal agencies to get help to those who need it.” 

Specifically, the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act contains:

  • $310 billion in additional funds for the Paycheck Protection Program
  • $60 billion for the SBA’s economic injury disaster loans and grants
  • $75 billion to hospitals and health care providers
  • $25 billion for expanded testing and research
