• Draft hearing statements and floor speeches for the Committee Chair and Subcommittee Chair.

DUTIES
• Formulate oversight and investigative initiatives for VA IT issue areas which includes:
o provide substantial input on the creation of an oversight plan;
o direct and oversee investigations within subcommittee jurisdiction;
o execute Subcommittee activities relevant to the oversight plan.
• Provide leadership responsibility for all Subcommittee activities including but not limited to the following:
o draft oversight letters;
o coordinate and attend briefings on relevant subject matter;
o identify and prepare witnesses;
o oversee the Subcommittee’s witness invitations;
o oversee the writing and preparation of memoranda, opening statements, and questions;
o assist in preparation of Chair’s briefing papers;
o ensure appropriate preparation for hearings;
o ensure proper follow-up after conclusions of hearings;
o coordinate with HVAC staff counterparts, communication staff, and chief counsel.
• Provide information on and generate ideas for press and other outreach efforts.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Majority Staff Director.

The Committee on House
Administration is seeking Congressional staff to volunteer to serve as official
nonpartisan observers for the 2020 general election.
This is an opportunity to
play an important role in assisting the Committee in executing its
responsibilities under the Federal Contested Elections Act. The Committee will
provide any staff that sign up to volunteer a short training and then, if need,
volunteers may be sent to a Congressional District after the election as an
observer. A law degree is helpful, but not required.
As volunteer observers,
you will observe the election or post-election counting and certification
process and report back to the Committee about any issues that might be
relevant to resolve a potential election contest. Previous observer experience
is not required. Volunteers undergo online training provided by Committee
staff and receive training manuals consisting of relevant laws, procedures, and
other information. As voting
processes change across the country due to the pandemic, this role will be more
important than ever. Should any particular election ultimately give rise to a
contest before the Committee, your on-site observations and contemporaneous
