We are committed to the health and safety of you, our partners, and our staff and will continue to work with LA County Department of Public Health to provide you with updated information as it becomes available in efforts to be proactive and take precautions to prevent the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

UPDATES ON OUR AGING SERVICES

To protect public health, the County will close all public facilities effective Monday, March 16. The County will continue to provide necessary services to the public.

Congregate Meal Sites Will Close Effective 3/16/20

The County and City of Los Angeles operate 180 congregate meal sites. All congregate meal sites will close effective Monday, March 16, 2020.

To ensure older adults continue to receive critically-needed meals, we will distribute packaged and frozen meals for older adults at our meal sites, with some locations starting Monday, March 16 and others starting later this week. See here for a map with detailed plans for each meal site.

Older adults 65 and older must send a family member, friend or caregiver who is under the age of 65 to pick-up meals at these sites.

You may call your local meal provider to make arrangements.  If you are not aware of who your meal provider is, you may call 1-800-510-2020 for assistance.

We are assessing ways to expand home-delivered meal services for seniors to reduce the need for meal distribution at our meal sites.

Community Centers Operated by County Will Close Effective 3/16/20

Effective, Monday, March 16th, the 23 Community and Senior Centers operated by the County will close to the public. Effective March 14th, the City of Los Angeles closed its 29 recreational senior centers and 16 multipurpose senior centers. Packaged and frozen meal distribution to seniors will occur at many of these County and City locations. See here for a map with detailed plans for each meal site.

Critical Delivery Service 

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the California Safer at Home Initiative, our aging population has an increased need for timely delivery services. WDACS has launched a free pickup and delivery program for older adults and individuals with disabilities. The Countywide program, called Critical Delivery Service, will deliver groceries, household items, and other vital necessities to individuals who are unable to leave their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Items may be delivered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, at no cost to the client. No application process is required, however, items must be pre-paid and ready for pickup. Deliveries may be scheduled by calling 1-888-863-7411 between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Clients may utilize this service up to four times or 40 miles per month, whichever comes first.

UPDATES FROM HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION

As we work to help County residents deal with the spread of COVID-19, we also need to contain the spread of fear, hostility, and discrimination. The LA County 2-1-1  phone line and web site are open 24 hours, 7 days a week, with trained Community Resource Advisors who can provide services in multiple languages.
