Hurricane Laura is expected to become a category 4 hurricane before landfall. Impact to Louisiana's Second Congressional district may include flash flooding, heavy wind, and excessive rainfall. Please be sure to follow NOLA Ready, FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency, and Louisiana Governor's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness for updates. Louisianans have weathered many storms, and we will get through this next one together.

Rep. Cedric Richmond is with Marie Bookman.

We have truly reached the end of an era with the passing of my dear friend, mentor, Civil Rights legend, and American icon Congressman John Lewis. I’m grateful for his wisdom, sacrifices, and lifelong fight for justice. I thank him, I love him, and I will sorely miss him.

‪New Orleans has truly lost a piece of our heart that we will never be able to fill. I mourn the loss of our beloved jazz icon, Ellis Marsalis Jr. His music will forever fill our hearts with joy and our streets with melodies. May his soul rest in paradise. ‬
