I am all the more pleased to be able to now put these questions behind us and get on with the important duty of working for the American people without an overshadowing political distraction

President Donald Trump signed S. 47, the Natural Resources Management Act. Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01) negotiated much of this legislation and voted for the bill. Bishop is the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Natural Resources.

Rep. Rob Bishop (UT-01) introduced HR 7163, a bill to designate the outstation of the Department of Veterans Affairs in North Ogden, UT, as the Major Brent Taylor Vet Center Outstation. Brent Russell Taylor served as Mayor of North Ogden City and as a Major in the Utah Army National Guard. On Saturday, November 3rd, 2018, Major Taylor was killed in an attack in Afghanistan.

The House-passed Farm Bill is good for Utah and good for America. As we enter into negotiations with the Senate, I will take particular care to defend and promote the provisions which support Utah’s farmers and ranchers. This bill is important to our nation’s economy and security. I look forward to serving on this bicameral, bipartisan committee.

For any student of federalism, this is a no-brainer. The range of industry and lifestyle is so varied across our country, it only makes sense for states to have the ability to set their watches the way they best see fit.

First and foremost, the NDAA is the legislation through which we in Congress ‘provide for the common defense.’ That is an important responsibility. This year’s NDAA will also reemphasize the important role Utah plays in the defense of our nation and our freedoms. Both the military and civilian workforce at Hill Air Force Base are vital to our country’s security. Ensuring Utah and the nation are properly supported is my top priority.
