Our Nation’s Capital is a truly unique place where democracy is exercised and our heritage is preserved for generations of Americans.
My staff is eager to provide assistance facilitating tour requests for many of the popular and historic sites in Washington. My office in Washington can arrange tours of several popular sites in Washington, D.C., for residents of Florida's 11th District. Please keep in mind that while tickets are free, admittance is determined by the individual tour site or agency, not by the Congressional office. Unless specified, tours are available Monday through Friday. These tours are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis, and the summer months are the peak tourist season.
Due to heightened security, tour requests for the White House and The Bureau of Engraving and Printing should be made at least 3 months in advance. These tours are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Space is very limited and there is no guarantee that you will receive tickets.
Tips for Visiting Capitol Hill:
- House Galleries - When Congress is in session, visitors are allowed to view live debate in the House and Senate Galleries from 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM from Monday through Friday. To obtain passes to the House Gallery, visit my DC office at 1210 Longworth House Office Building. *Please note that children under the age of ten must be accompanied by an adult. Senate Gallery tickets must be obtained from Florida Senate Offices.
- Meals - Cafeterias are located throughout the Capitol complex in the Capitol Visitor Center, Longworth House Office Building, Rayburn House Office Building, Dirksen Senate Office Building, and the James Madison Memorial Annex to the Library of Congress.
- Transportation - Since parking is extremely limited in Washington, taxis, buses, and the Metrorail subway are the easiest forms of transportation to and from Capitol Hill.
The Capitol South Metro station is the closest station to our office. For additional details on the Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO), please visit: http://www.wmata.com/.
