Washington, D.C. – #WhatWomenWant for Valentine’s Day is equal representation.

Congressman Eliot Engel, a Senior Member of the House Energy and Commerce Committee and the Ranking Member on the Foreign Affairs Committee, says he’d like to see a woman elected as President in 2016.

“Women have made tremendous strides in college classrooms and are more likely to earn an advanced degree than men.  We’re also seeing a noticeable increase in women leading major corporations and running for elected office. England, Canada, Bangladesh and Brazil all have or had female leaders, as has Finland, Liberia and a number of other countries.”

“We witnessed history in 2008 when Barack Obama became the first black person elected President and again in 2014 when he was elected to a second term.  I’d like to witness another historic, ‘first.’ It’s time to elect a woman as President.”
