Grant Program Highlights

U.S. - Middle East Partnership Initiative
Through its Washington headquarters and Regional Offices in Abu Dhabi and Tunis, the U.S. - Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) has contributed over $975 million to more than 1,100 projects in 18 countries and territories since its establishment in 2002. The organizations that have been awarded grants represent a cross-section of communities from every region in the Middle East and include rural, urban, suburban, and tribal communities. The programs have focused on political process strengthening, legal or institutional frameworks, elections management; public awareness, voter education and enfranchisement; observation, monitoring, and oversight; citizen engagement and participation in elections and political processes; political parties and party organizational development; and constituent outreach.

Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs
The Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchange that assist in the development of peaceful relations. ECA awards grants and cooperative agreements to non-profit organizations to support academic, cultural, and professional exchange programs to promote mutual understanding.
