The IRS has extended the deadline to register for the Economic Impact Payment (stimulus check) of $1,200 per eligible adult and $500 for each qualifying child under age 17. If you don't normally file a tax return, the IRS may not have enough information to issue your payment. To get your payment this year, you must register with the IRS by Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 3:00pm Eastern time. If you miss the November 21 deadline, you can claim the Ecomomic Impact Payment as a credit on a 2020 federal income tax return next year. The Economic Impact Payment is not taxable income and getting one does not affect your eligibility for benefit programs, such as SNAP food benefits, unemployment benefits, or other benefit programs.

The Division of Social Services is conducting the FY 2021 Child Care Market Rate Survey to review Delaware’s child care reimbursement rates. A research team will be contacting child care providers in November and December to collect information on rates and enrollment in different child care settings throughout the State. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) issued a fraud alert on September 10, 2020 that individuals receiving SNAP food benefits should be aware of a scam using texting to obtain personal information. The text might say you were chosen to receive food stamps or SNAP and request that you share information like your social security number, bank information, or EBT card number and PIN. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS TEXT. If you do not know if a request for information about SNAP is real or not, contact the Division of Social Services.

Beginning July 1, 2020, households can use their Delaware EBT cards to shop and pay for eligible food items online at participating Shoprite and Walmart stores and at Amazon. Click here to learn more about purchasing groceries online with your SNAP food benefits or P-EBT benefits.

The Division of Social Services is implementing a major upgrade to the ASSIST Self-Service website ASSIST Self-Service Website on Saturday, February 1, 2020. While this upgrade is primarily focused on the underlying technology, we want to make you aware of some notable usability enhancements that aim to improve ther user experience and strengthen data accuracy. These include:

• New ASSIST home page look and feel, and navigation changes
• Community Partner home page layout improvements
• Better use of screen space with full-page rendering for various screen sizes
• Replacing window scrolling with easy-to-use browser scrolling
• Replacing pop-up window with new tabs
• Adding "nudging" to encourage more accurate data entry in key areas
• Latest (current) browser support including Chrome, Edge, FireFox and Safari
