We work on a variety of health topics in partnership with schools, worksites, town offices and local service providers. We also serve individuals and families right in our office. Barre Safe Sharps Disposal Community Toolkit

This toolkit was developed by the Barre District Office of Local Health and the Greater Barre Safe Sharps Alliance.  It is a comprehensive safe needle disposal toolkit that provides a strategic framework for assessing the problem of unsafe needle disposal in a local community. The toolkit also outlines options for addressing the issue, and includes tips for building partnerships, developing and executing a plan and evaluating the project, among other resources. The WIC Program (Women, Infants and Children) provides access to healthy foods, nutrition education, breastfeeding support and referrals to health care and other community resources.

The Barre Local Health Office promotes the health and wellness of worman, children and families throughout their lives.

We work with many partners so that our communities will be a place where people of all ages and abilities can move safely and get healthy food.

We work with local employers to start worksite wellness programs. Programs that make it easier to live a healthy life are good for Vermont workers and good for Vermont businesses too.


We work to improve the health and well-being of school-aged children across Washington County.  We support supervisory unions, school districts, independent schools, community organizations, students and their families by helping with high-impact strategies that make a difference in health.

We work closely with families and medical practices to increase the number of people in Washington and Orange Counties who receive all their recommended immunizations.

 We work with partners in Washington and Orange Counties to prevent disease. We provide education and other resources. When disease occurs, we work to identify it and stop it from spreading. We welcome your questions about infectious disease.

Your Regional Substance Abuse Prevention Consultant works with our communities to reduce substance misuse through education, planning and referral.

 

We connect tobacco prevention and quit partners with schools and community organizations throughout central Vermont.
