Birth records are not public records in Illinois and very few people are entitled to receive copies of them.
Illinois is a closed state regarding adoptions. Once an adoption is completed, a sealed file is created.
Death records are only available to those who have a personal or property right interest with the decedent.
Uncertified copies of birth certificates (older than 75 years) and death certificates (older than 20 years) are available for genealogical purposes
Marriage records are available in the county clerk’s office in the county where the marriage occurred. A verification can be obtained here.
Civil union records are available in the county clerk’s office in the county where the civil union occurred. A verification can be obtained here.
Records are available in the circuit court clerk’s office in the county where the dissolution was granted. A verification can be obtained here.
