Emergency Preparedness, EMS & Injury Prevention
How our families and our communities will fare in an emergency depends on how well we have planned and prepared.
When facing an infectious disease outbreak, natural or man-made disaster, environmental hazard or extreme weather event, the Vermont Department of Health must be prepared to respond quickly and effectively. We work with other government agencies, hospitals, health care providers, EMS first responders and community partners to practice and improve our capacity to respond and recover from emergencies that threaten the health and safety of Vermonters.
Make sure that you and your loved ones are prepared. To get involved with emergency response, consider volunteering with a local EMS agency, or the Medical Reserve Corps – check out OnCall For Vermont.
