Surveillance & Reporting by Topic

Epidemiologic surveillance is the ongoing systematic collection, recording, analysis, interpretation and dissemination of data reflecting the current health status of a community or population. The Center for Health Statistics collects, collates, analyzes and disseminates information about the health and well-being of Vermonters to inform public policy and guide disease prevention efforts.

In addition to traditional infectious disease monitoring and intervention, we undertake epidemiologic surveillance on chronic disease, injury, maternal and child health, and risk factors associated with these areas.

The Health Department also produces topic area specific community profiles. These profiles compile topic specific data by local geography - county, health district, and hospital service area - providing maps, trends, and local and state comparisons for selected health indicators.
